Normally as a writer myself I tend to avoid other writers. Its a long story. They became writers for a reason and the reason is: they dont shine in a face to face situation. They communicate better alone. But Jake is the exception. I like him for one thing because when talking to him I get the feeling he is listening. Im not addressing myself to outer space. Also: he returns phone calls. Why people dont return phone calls—or in this era the email—remains a mystery. But Jake returns calls, also the email and, in the miscellaneous category—you can put the arm on him for a short term loan. Finally--if you operate a website that from time to time requires co-operation on the part of a friend, such as submission of a favorite movie list to the top ten movie page—he is happy to help out there as well. Hes my man! |
